ISO 22301Who is it for?

Who is ISO 22301 relevant for?

ISO 22301 is meant for organisations that need demonstrable control over the continuity of their critical processes. The standard is published by ISO , supplemented by ISO 22313 guidance . Audits run through accredited bodies under RvA supervision .

Rule of thumb: if a disruption causes direct revenue loss, contract risk or reputational damage, ISO 22301 is usually relevant.

When ISO 22301 delivers the most commercial value

ISO 22301 often delivers the most value when you:

  • serve enterprise customers with continuity requirements;
  • depend on 24/7 processes;
  • regularly receive customer questions about disaster recovery;
  • need to demonstrate continuity safeguards in tenders.

When you can still wait with ISO 22301

Postponing can sometimes make sense if you:

  • are still in an early proof-of-concept phase;
  • have few critical processes or supply chain dependencies;
  • do not yet face contractual continuity requirements.

But once scale, SLAs or supply chain risk increase, waiting usually becomes more expensive.
