Costs and timeline for NEN 4400 and SNA

There is no reliable standard price for an SNA inspection. The inspection body charges the inspection costs directly to the company, and the size depends on the entity, the activities and the administration. SNA does publish its fees . For 2026, the FAQ states a €250 entry fee and a €299 annual fee, both excluding VAT. For the inspection itself, request a quote and use applying for the SNA certificate to define the scope.

The budget below is therefore a fictional calculation example. The internal hourly rate is your own management choice, not a market price. Fill in the amounts for inspection, advice and any correction work only after you have a concrete quote. For the current statutory planning, see Wtta and SNA.

Use the NEN 4400 and SNA hub to determine your route. The requirements checklist then helps you estimate how much internal preparation you need.

Fictional calculation example

Suppose a Dutch staffing company with one entity wants to apply for the SNA certificate in 2026. The company chooses an internal value of €60 per hour for project hours. That amount says nothing about what an adviser or inspection body charges on the market.

The fictional internal items plus the published SNA fees therefore come to €3,189 excluding VAT, before inspection and external advice. This is not an offer, an average or a market indication. Replace the hours, the hourly rate and the official fees once you know your own plan and the correct rates.

Make a realistic plan

First plan a scoping meeting with the inspection body. After that, there is usually the organising of the administration, an internal check, the initial inspection and, if needed, correction. The calendar differs per company. SNA does not publish a fixed lead time that applies to everyone. According to the SNA FAQ , a new company must have been active for at least three months, with wage payments and/or tax remittances, before an initial inspection can take place.

Work backwards from your intended registration date. Allow time for a recent Chamber of Commerce extract, missing identity or wage evidence, and SNA processing the inspection result. For the Wtta, plan extra checkpoints before 1 November 2026, 1 January 2027 and 1 May 2027.

Request at least one concrete quote for your entity, standard part and modules. Compare scope, inspection days, the assessment of correction and any travel costs. Do not compare total amounts without the same scope.

Frequently asked questions

What does the SNA certificate cost exactly?

SNA publishes fees, including for 2026 a €250 entry fee and a €299 annual fee, excluding VAT. You pay the inspection costs to the chosen inspection body, and you request a quote from them.

Can I include the Wtta security deposit as certification costs?

Only include it if you fall under the application route, and check the amount, exemption and conditions with the government. It is not an SNA fee.

Is an adviser required?

Not automatically. You can prepare internally and only contract an inspection body. Choose advice only if it solves a concrete shortfall.
